Powered |
The R-2 Powered, also known as the Real Personal Trooper Type-2 Powered, is a Banpresto Original Mecha from the SRW-exclusive series Chouki Taisen SRX, debuting in Neo Super Robot Wars. Part of the R-Series, it is an upgraded version of the R-2 and can combine with R-1 and R-3 Powered to form SRX. Its main pilot is Raidiese F. Branstein.
Technological and Historical[]
Part of the SRX Project, the R-2 was the second of the R-Series to be developed, a heavy-armored long-range artillery Personal Trooper that can provide support fire for allied forces, making up for its low mobility. The Plus Parts, which includes a pair of 5-barrel heavy particle Hi-Zol Launchers and additional shoulder armor, turns the R-2 into R-2 Powered, enabling it to properly fulfill its role in combat and allowing for combination into SRX. For extra defensive capabilities, the R-2 is outfitted with a large Beam Shield on its left arm, as well as an I-Field Generator (Alpha)/AB Field (OG). The head section is installed with a Hybrid Sensor, as well as housing the R-2 Powered's cockpit due to the complex transformation system. The most important aspect of the R-2 Powered, however, is that it is loaded with the Tronium Engine that serves as the SRX's power source when combined, raising concerns regarding the Engine's unstable nature. Unlike its sibling units, the R-2 Powered isn't installed with a T-Link System, as it was decided that its pilot does not necessarily need to be a Psychodriver, since their purpose in the SRX would be to maintain the Tronium Engine, monitor machine damage and check on the other 2 pilots' medical status. In the planning stages, the R-1 was supposed to conduct combination assaults with R-3 on the front lines, however due to the R-3/R-3 Powered being mostly stationed at the rear due to its precious T-Link System, the R-2 Powered took its place instead, joining R-1 in coordinated attacks.
Super Robot Spirits[]
Following SRX's battle and eventual defeat against Judecca, the R-2 Powered received severe damage along with the R-3 Powered, leading to its Tronium Engine being transferred to the R-1 in order to make best use of it, creating the R-1 Kai. The R-2 would later be retrofitted with another reactor of unknown type and sorties to retrieve the stranded R-1 Kai, after the Super Robot Team had successfully defeated Judecca.
Real Robots Final Attack[]
R-2 Powered is available as a playable unit.
Super Hero Operations[]
Following the previous great war against the Aerogaters, the SRX was sealed away beneath the Gaia Savers Far East HQ, which included the R-2 Powered. It was called to action once more a year later to fend off Pandon's attack on the HQ.
Neo SRW[]
First appearance. After Earth Route Stage 19, R-2 will be upgraded into R-2 Powered. If Space Route was chosen, R-2 Powered will regroup with the League Militaire on Side 2 from Earth after Stage 22, travelling on the White Ark, along with the Victory 2 Gundam, the Nu Gundam and Plus Parts for the R-3. R-2 Powered can combine with the R-3 Powered and R-1 to form SRX after Stage 30 (Earth Route) / from Stage 30 onwards (Space Route).
Alpha Series[]
In Alpha, the R-2 Powered was additionally installed with nuclear jet engines in its legs, allowing it to hover over terrain.
SRW Alpha[]
The R-2 will be upgraded with the Plus Parts and become R-2 Powered at the start of Stage 29. From Stage 50 onwards, combination into SRX is possible.
SRW Alpha Gaiden[]
The R-2 Powered and R-1 were disassembled following the end of the Balmar Campaign as they were deemed too costly for maintenance by the Earth Federation, followed by R-3 Powered and R-Gun Powered at the end of the game.
SRW Alpha 2[]
The SRX Team (aside from Viletta) as well as the R-Series mecha did not made an appearance in Alpha 2.
SRW Alpha 3[]
The original R-Series robots were eventually rebuilt in Alpha 3 and deployed in combat as SRX as the full might of the Ze Balmary Empire began to invade Earth, however in its first battle against the new invasion wave, the SRX was devastatingly defeated at the hands of the Hazal Gozzo's Vayikran, which also meant the destruction of the R-2 Powered, though all 3 pilots survived.
OG Series[]
The R-2 was developed by Mao Industries using data from the PTX-004 Schutzwald, inheriting the concept of a long-range artillery Personal Trooper. The Plus Parts, which includes a pair of 5-barrel heavy particle Hi-Zol Launchers and additional shoulder armor, turns the R-2 into R-2 Powered, enabling it to properly fulfill its role in combat and allowing for combination into SRX.
SRW OG1/SRW OGs1[]
Just before the Aerogators' first invasion wave on Earth (Stage 30), the R-2 will be upgraded with the Plus Parts and become R-2 Powered. With Kyousuke Route, combination into SRX is only possible for Stage 32, due to the component machines' insufficient joint structure. With Ryuusei Route, combination into SRX is temporarily possible for Stage 34 before being permanently available after Stage 36, thanks to the special joints developed for the Alteisen by Dr. Marion Radom brought to Izu Base, negating the joint structure issue.
SRW OG2/SRW OGs2[]
Raidiese, along with Latune and Kai, regrouped with the Hagane crew at Izu Base following a raid on said base by DC remnants, bringing with him the R-2 Powered. The machine would serve as Rai's unit throughout the conflict.
SRW OGG[]
After the Inspector Incident and the Einst Conflict, the R-2 Powered was stationed on the Hagane, remaining as Rai's personal machine throughout the Bartoll Incident and the Shura Turbulence.
2nd SRW OG[]
Rai, Aya, Viletta and Mai were teleported to to La Gias as part of the Surface Dweller Summoning Incident along with their machines. Mai and her R-1 were captured by the Stedonias army, forcing the rest of the SRX Team to fight for Stedonias. After Mai managed to escape with help from Tyutti Noorbuck's Familars Freki and Geri, the SRX Team regrouped with the Hagane and fought with them throughout the rest of the underground conflict.
Armaments[]
- Head Vulcan Cannon (頭部バルカン砲 | Toubu Vulcan Hou)
Two rapidly firing machine guns mounted on the R-2's head. They're not very effective on Personal Troopers and similar sized enemies, but they're good for destroying small fighters and ground targets.
- Beam Shield (ビームシールド)
A large beam-emitting shield is mounted on the R-2's left forearm for protection.
- Beam Sword (ビームソード)
A beam sword for close combat. Added in Original Generations as a swappable weapon.
- Magna Beam Rifle (マグナ・ビームライフル)
A special beam rifle which fires beam energy stored within HEGC bullet cartridges. It has increased power compared to other beam ranged weapons. In Alpha, it is said to be the basis for the Huckebein Mk-II's Photon Rifle.
- Wired Beam Chakram (有線式ビーム・チャクラム | Yuusenshiki Beam Chakram)
A wire-guided beam-emitting chakram disk stored within the right forearm container. The weapon's design also allows it to be used for other purposes such as restraining. It was originally meant to be a T-Link controlled weapon, however since it was decided that the R-2's pilot will be a non-telekinetic, it is guided by wire.
- Hi-Zol Launcher (ハイゾルランチャー)
A pair of 5-barrel heavy metal particle beam cannons mounted on the machine's shoulders. From OGs onwards, they are capable of switching between concentrated and scattered bombardment.
Solo Attacks[]
- Round Chakram (ラウンド・チャクラム)
The R-2 hurls the Wired Beam Chakram around itself, damaging surrounding targets. Only seen as a MAP attack in Alpha.
Combination Attacks[]
- Formation R (フォーメーションR)
Combination attack with R-1 and R-3 Powered, first seen in OG1. The attack begins with the R-1 transforming into R-Wing, followed by R-3 Powered attacking with the Strike Shields and R-2 Powered firing the Hi-Zol Launchers in a burst. The R-Wing closes in on the enemy amidst the barrage before transforming back into R-1, with the Strike Shields pinning the enemy down in preparation for R-1's assault. The R-1 then brings the finisher with a T-Link Double Knuckle and finally a T-Link Sword. The team flies away as a group as the enemy explodes.
In the 2nd OG version, the attack first begins with a Hi-Zol Launcher barrage instead, followed by the Strike Shields attacking and R-1 changing into R-Wing. After the enemy is pinned down by the Strike Shields, the R-Wing rises above the enemy and performs a T-Link Crash Sword, transforming back into R-1 after piercing through the enemy for a group pose with the rest of the team as the enemy blows up.
