The Lion was developed as the first Armored Module belonging to the Lion Series, serving as the primary mobile weapon of the Divine Crusaders. The creation of the machine was made possible through the labourious efforts of the EOTI Council's brightest minds, including Bian Zoldark and Filio Presty, utilizing breakthrough cutting-edge technology studied from EOT found inside Meteor-3, with financial backing from Isurugi Heavy Industries. Using Isurugi's mass-production all-purpose fighter jet F-32 Schwert as a base, an EOT-improved Tesla Drive was installed on the machine, along with a semi-automomous control system known as the "Learning-automation Integrated EO-technology and cONventional maNeuvering System", or "LIEOonN" => "LIEON" System. Thus, Bian named this revolutionary machine as "Lion". With its simple structure and advanced flight systems, the Lion boasts superior maneuverability and mobility compared to other conventional aircraft, while also reducing production costs to a minimum. While the Tesla Drive provides basic levitation, rocket engines located at the rear of the "legs"/landing gear supply the primary thrust. Also built into the legs are numerous stabilizing verniers with excellent terrain-following capabilities, allowing for near-ground combat as well. Despite already being equipped with various fixed armaments, the Lion can still wield handheld weapons with its manipulators, increasing its versitality. With parts swapping, it is possible to reconfigure the Lion for land, sea or space environments, further highlighting its valuable cost-effectiveness and flexibility. However, due to the simplified body frame, the Lion is rather fragile, and vulnerable to close-range combat, compared to the slow but sturdy and articulative Personal Troopers. Nevertheless, the Lion, along with its variants and sibling units, proved to be an indispensible combat force of the DC during the DC War, as well as in the hands of the Terra Federation during the L5 Campaign.
The Lion Type-V is a variant of the Lion with enhanced mobility, sporting a grey color compared to the standard Lion's light blue.
SRW OG1/SRW OGs1[]
The Lion was mass-produced by Isurugi Heavy Industries and fielded in large numbers by the DC, as well as the United Colony Corps during the DC War. As the war ended, the TFF's Mass-Production Gespenst Mk-II were in shortage, leading to the incorporation of a large amount of surviving Armored Troopers into the Terra Federation Forces, with AM pilot training being quickly undertaken to be on time for humanity's great offense on Nevi'im: Operation SRW.
SRW OG2/SRW OGs2[]
Following the L5 Campaign, the Federation gradually replaced Armored Modules with the new-generation Mass-Production Huckebein Mk-II. Though outdated, the Lions were still employed by DC remnants.
SRW OGG[]
Though outdated, the Lions were still employed by DC remnants.
2nd SRW OG[]
The only original Lion variant to appear in the game. Though outdated, the Lion Type-Vs were still employed by DC remnants.
Armaments[]
Chaff Grenade (チャフグレネード)
A special projectile used to reduce enemies' accuracy.
Assault Blade (アサルトブレード)
Handheld combat blade equipped with a chainsaw, powered by a cylindrical battery. Originally developed for Armored Modules, it can also be used by Personal Troopers due to the Universal Connector at the weapon's handle.
Machine Cannon (マシンキャノン)
A pair of machine cannons built into the chest.
Homing Missile (ホーミングミサイル)
Homing missiles stored within a container, mounted on the right arm.
Railgun (レールガン)
The Lion's primary weapon, a long-range railgun mounted on the left arm.
