Starting with the Gundam-like mecha that appeared in The 4th Super Robot Wars named "Huckebein", the Huckebein Series is one of the most prominent unit lineage in Super Robot Wars with numerous variations spawned throughout various timelines. This page is dedicated for overall information about the Huckebein Series as well as other machines related to it.
Overview[]
The Huckebein's design is a homage to the Gundam-type Mobile Suits from the Gundam Series. The mecha is equipped with a Black Hole Engine, allowing it to use the powerful Black Hole Cannon. In Alpha and OG settings, the Huckebein's Black Hole Engine is highly volatile and dangerous, even causing one unit to suffer a reactor meltdown during a test. Unlike the Gespenst Series, the Huckebein Series was initially designed as a high-performance aircraft with extraordinary agility and firepower (Mk-I), then to a well-rounded less dangerous PT (Mk-II) and finally a PT that can adapt to combat situations by exchanging external modules (Mk-III).
List of Variations[]
Huckebein[]
The starting mecha of the series, first appearing in The 4th Super Robot Wars. Equipped with the signature Black Hole Engine and Black Hole Cannon. Known as Huckebein 008L and Huckebein 008R in Alpha and OG.
- Huckebein 02
- Huckebein EX: In Alpha, the remaining Huckebein unit, the 008L, was refurbished into the Huckebein EX using parts from the Huckebein Mk-II, and was given a copper color scheme. In the game, it is simply a recolor of the Huckebein Mk-II's sprite. In OG, this was originally supposed to be the Exbein's name (mentioned below), however due to the Earth Federation higher-ups deciding to abolish the Huckebein Series out of fear of EOT, Mao Industries conducted development of the EX in secrecy, changing it's name into "Exbein" and giving it a blue color scheme instead of the planned copper.
- Huckebein 009: In Alpha and OG, this is the 3rd Huckebein unit built, and unlike its siblings, it was equipped with a Fusion Reactor (Alpha) / Plasma Generator (OG) instead of a Black Hole Engine, and was primarily fielded for data gathering. In OG, the 009 was removed from the front lines after the L5 Campaign and was renovated into the Exbein.
- Exbein: The Exbein serves as an intermediate between the development Huckebein Mk-II and Mk-III, and was also used to test out the Core Trooper System with the AM Parts. It actually first appeared as a replacement for the Huckebeins in Super Robot Wars OG: The Inspector, due to Sunrise not liking the idea of the popularization of a Gundam-like mecha not owned by them in an anime. In the OG games' timeline, the first Exbein unit was heavily damaged after the Galilnagant's attack on the Huckebein Series mecha and patched up into the Ash. 2 more Exbein units were created following the Sealed War: the Type-L and the Type-R, piloted by Rio Mei Long and Ryouto Hikawa respectively.
- Exbein Boxer: The Exbein combined with the AM Boxer support unit.
- Exbein Gunner: The Exbein combined with the AM Gunner support unit.
- Ash: The Exbein was quickly repaired into this form after Gallinagant's attack on the Huckebeins using spare parts and the Huckebeins' wreckage.
- Exexbein: With advanced telekinesis, Ing Wish assembled the parts for the Huckebein Mk-X stored inside a nearby Taussenfuessler onto the Ash mid-battle, forming the Exexbein. Incorporating special technology seen throughout all Huckebein generations, it can be considered as the final evolution of the Huckebein Series.

Huckebein Mk-II[]
In Alpha and OG, the Huckebein Mk-II was developed as the successor to the Huckebein, designed with an emphasis towards mass-production. It is equipped with various pieces of cutting-edge systems such as the T-Link System, Uranus System, Gravi-Con System and a Personal Fighter system. It would serve as the basis for the Mass-Production Huckebein Mk-II. In OG, Unit 1 and Unit 2 met their end in 2nd OG after they, and the rest of the Huckebein Series were destroyed by the Galilnagant when they were about to be transported to the Hickam Air Force Base, making the Mk-II Unit 3 the last surviving unit remaining with the Huckebein name.
- Huckebein Mk-II Trombe: In OG, the Huckebein Mk-II Unit 2 that was destroyed during one of the Hiryuu Kai crew's battles against the Colony United Army was salvaged and rebuilt into the Huckebein Mk-II Trombe. It has been upgraded with G-Territory and Afterimage capabilities along with a newly-installed Tesla Drive, as well as being repainted to Elzam's personal black-red color scheme. It serves as Elzam's personal unit for the L5 Campaign and was put into storage after the conflict. As mentioned above, the unit was destroyed by the Galilnagant in 2nd OG.
Mass-Production Huckebein Mk-II[]
In Alpha and OG, the Mass-Production Huckebein Mk-II is a cost-cutting and toned-down version of the original Mk-II for mass-production, lacking many of its predecessor's special systems but still retaining the basic performance.
- Pfeil III: Official name: Mass-Production Huckebein Mk-II MHRDT3 Custom. Also known as the Pfeil Drei. A Personal Trooper built by the Development & Experiment Team No.3 Humanoid Mobile Weapon Development & Experiment Team, combining a planned enhancement design for the MP Huckebein Mk-II with Zuvorg technology.
- Sniper PT: A customized Mass-Production Huckebein Mk-II belonging to a terrorist group, armed with a powerful beam sniper rifle. It housed a computer that has TC-OS combat patterns based on former School member Ouka Nagisa. It was destroyed by Latune Subbota, Arado Balanga & Seolla Schweitzer in a joint maneuver. Seen in OG Chronicles ministory "Those to Protect, Those to Overcome".
Huckebein Mk-III[]
The Huckebein Mk-III was developed by Mao Industries as the successor of the Huckebein Mk-II, based around the concept of "a miniaturized high-performance SRX". Also classified as a "Super Personal Trooper". It is equipped with a T-Link System similar to its predecessor, an improved Gravi-Con System allowing for better usage of Gravity Territory, and a powerful Tronium Engine as its power source. For the Mk-III, output regulation of the Tronium Engine isn't manually adjusted like the SRX but through contact with the T-Link System instead. It adopts the Huckebein's H Frame and the Huckebein Mk-II's Personal Fighter module system, along with using various parts from the R-Series mecha. However, the Mk-III's most distinctive ability lies in the integrated Core Trooper System, allowing the Mk-III to equip either the AM Boxer or the AM Gunner support units to form the Huckebein Boxer and Huckebein Gunner respectively, granting the PT the ability to respond to various combat situations.
- Huckebein Mk-III Type-L: The second of the two Huckebein Mk-III units created, in Alpha and OG. Commonly referred to when talking about the Huckebein Mk-III.
- Huckebein Mk-III Type-R: The first of the two Huckebein Mk-III units created, in Alpha and OG. It will be modified into the Huckebein Mk-III Trombe in both series.
- Huckebein Mk-III Trombe: In Alpha and OG, this is the Huckebein Mk-III Type-R customized for Ratsel Feinschmaker's use on Earth, painted in Ratsel's personal colors. In OG, depending on the player's game statistics, the Mk-III Trombe can be reverted back to the Type-R and properly installed with a Tronium Engine, restoring the mecha's Core Trooper System.
- Huckebein Boxer: The Huckebein combined with the AM Boxer support unit.
- Huckebein Gunner: The Huckebein combined with the AM Gunner support unit.
- Guarbein Mk-III/Guarbein Mk-III Trombe : An exclusive mecha from Super Robot Wars OG: The Inspector, substituting for the Huckebein Mk-III/Huckebein Mk-III Trombe. It is essentially the Huckebein Mk-III Type-R with its head and shoulder armor replaced with those from a Guarlion, in order to deceive the eyes of the TFF higher-ups, who suspended the Huckebeins' development out of fear of the EOT installed in them. After Raetsel switched to the Aussenseiter, the Guarbein Mk-III Trombe was reverted back to its original blue color scheme and renamed to "Guarlion Mk-III", piloted by Viletta Vadim.
- This mecha can be understood as a way for the show's directors to get across the fact that Sunrise doesn't approve the appearance of the Huckebeins in the anime due to the Gundam-like design.
AM Parts[]
The other half of the Core Trooper System, support modules for the Huckebein Mk-III which are designed to work in tandem with the unit and are capable of combining with the Mk-III. The modules are also compatible with the Exbeins.
- AM Gunner: A high-speed aircraft capable of providing long-range support fire, developed as one of the AM Parts to be used with the Huckebein Mk-III and form Huckebein Gunner, or with the Exbeins to form Exbein Gunner. Also capable of docking with R-Gun, R-1 and Huckebein Mk-II through switching connector parts. Can directly dock with the R-Gun Powered and Guarbein Mk-III in OGIN.
- Treated as a swappable module during intermission in Alpha. Appeared as a playable unit in OG2, OGs, OGG and 2nd OG. From OGMD onwards it became permanently docked to the Exbein Type-L and no longer playable.
- AM Boxer (AMボクサー): Initially, the AM Boxer was developed as the second R-Weapon unit, the R-Sword, transforming into the Juuryokuken G-Sword (重力剣Gソード Gravity Sword G-Sword) for the SRX's use. However it was hastily remodified into an AM Part due to the Huckebein Mk-III's development being accelerated. Traces of the original design can be seen with the G-Sword Diver attack. In Alpha, it and the AM Boxer were transported to Londo Bell by Ling Mao shortly after the debut of the Huckebein Mk-III. In OG, the unfinished AM Boxer was taken from the Mao Industries Moon facility and brought to Izu Base by the Hagane, where it received final adjustments by Kirk Hamill and Robert H. Ohmiya. In OGMD, a red AM Boxer unit was prepared for the newly-built Exbein Type-L and Type-R.
- Treated as a swappable module during intermission.
- AM Servant (AMサーバント): An AM Part that only exists as development plans in Alpha 3. It is supposed to be equipped with telekinetic weapons. Tsugumi Takakura utilized the plans for this AM Part when upgrading the AS Soleares into the AS Alegrias.
Huckebein 30[]
A Huckebein variant that will be serving as the leading mecha of Super Robot Wars 30. Its most distinctive feature is a golden "XXX" emblem (the Roman number for 30) mounted on its face. The mecha's overall design seems to be based on the Ash.
- Huckebein 30th: Upgraded version of the Huckebein 30. The patchwork-looking parts have been replaced with proper armor, along with additonal new weaponry, turning the 30th into a figure similar to the original Huckebein (or more specifically, the Huckebein 008L).
