The Huckebein Mk-II (ヒュッケバインMk-II) is a Banpresto Original Mecha debuting in Super Robot Wars Alpha. Part of the Huckebein Series, it was developed from the Huckebein. Its data was later be used to develop the Mass-Production Huckebein Mk-II, as well as the Huckebein Mk-III. In OG, the 2nd Huckebein Mk-II unit was later rebuilt as the Huckebein Mk-II Trombe.
Technical and Historical[]
The Huckebein Mk-II serves as the successor to the Huckebein, as well as serving as the basis for a new line of mass-production units. Learning from previous mistakes, the Mk-II was not equipped with an unstable Black Hole Engine but with a standard Fusion Generator (Alpha) / Plasma Generator (OG) instead. The PT recycles the Gespenst Mk-II series' G2 Frame as well as using various parts from the Gespenst Series for cost efficiency. The wing thruster units on the back are for stabilizing the mecha when gliding or jumping, and supposedly is also installed with a Tesla Drive (HG model kit settings only, never referenced in any of the games or anime). A Personal Fighter module is installed within the Mk-II's chest area, consisting of the head and the cockpit block, allowing for the pilot to make a quick escape from the battlefield if the situation forces so. Leaving aside the EOT aspects, the Mk-II could still perform well as an all-rounded high-end Personal Trooper similar to the Huckebein. Plus, to make up for the reduced firepower due to lacking the Black Hole Cannon, the Mk-II is equipped with the Gravicon System, which can be used to generate the defensive G-Wall or to fire the external G-Impact Cannon, a substitute for the Black Hole Cannon. Aside from being a mass-production prototype, the Huckebein Mk-II was also meant to be special unit used by telekinetic pilots to collect data, hence why the T-Link System is installed to interact with the pilot's telekinetic brainwaves, along with the hidden Uranus System, which kicks into action when both the pilot and the machine is in immediate danger, further drawing out the pilot's telekinesis abilities to the maximum limit and beyond.
Alpha Series[]
The Huckebein Mk-II was jointly developed by the Earth Federation Far East Branch, Divine Crusaders Japanese Branch and Mao Industries as a successor to the Huckebein.
SRW Alpha[]
The Huckebein Mk-II serves as the Real Route main hero's mecha for the first half of SRW Alpha. The PT was being transported to Londo Bell on a Tausendfuessler from Mao Industries to the DC Far East Branch when it came under attack from Titans forces. The main hero and their lover, who are Mao Industries employees piloting the transport, decide to seek for help, with the main hero boarding the Huckebein Mk-II in order to communicate and reach allied forces. As the Mk-II boots up, the T-Link System installed on the mecha imprints the controlling method for the Mk-II into the hero's brain, allowing them to fend off against the Titans attackers. The Argama ship of the AEUG later arrived for help, incorporating the hero and their Mk-II as part of the ship's combat force. Later in the game, the Mk-II would be heavily damaged and destroyed in combat against RyuOhKi at the International Police Organization Beijing Branch, however the Personal Fighter loaded inside the Mk-II managed to escape in time and dock with the new Huckebein Mk-III, turning the tide of the battle to the hero's favor.
In Super Route, the Mk-II will be taken by Irmgard Kazahara and used in his plan of sabotaging the SRX Project due to his distrust of Ingram Plissken. It will be piloted by the hero's lover, who was abducted and brainwashed by Irm. Similar to Real Route, the Huckebein Mk-II will be destroyed by RyuOhKi at the IPO Beijing Branch.
OG Series[]
In OG, the Huckebein Mk-II was developed by Mao Industries as a candidate for the TFF's next generation mass-production Personal Trooper. A total of 3 units were made, with Unit 1 being equipped with a T-Link System.
SRW OG1/SRW OGs1[]
Unit 1 was entrusted to pilot Brooklyn Luckfield after the Hiryuu Kai arrived at the Moon Cradle (Stage 13), replacing his Mass-Production Gespenst Mk-II Type-TT Unit 3. During the Mk-II's first sortie, Radha Bairaban accompanied Bullet in the cockpit (using her yoga techniques to fit herself in) in order to help him get used to the Mk-II's controls and T-Link System. It became Bullet's personal machine throughout the DC War, L5 Campaign and Inspector War, until Brooklyn switches to KoRyuOh and the Grungust Type-3 Unit 3.
Unit 2 was given to DC forces when they occupied Mao Industries' Moon facility as exchange for the safety of the staff. Later, Siebel Mistel of the Colony Integrated Army ordered Unit 2 to be installed with a virus so that it can be set up as a trap for the Hiryuu Kai crew, anticipating that the crew would attempt to recover the mecha. However, the crew easily saw through Siebel's plan and avoided the trap, but Unit 2 still ended up getting destroyed in combat. Elzam V. Branstein ordered Unit 2's remains to be salvaged after the battle and had it rebuilt into the Huckebein Mk-II Trombe, using it as his personal mecha for the L5 Campaign.
Unit 3 was supposedly given to the TFF Army for mass-production trials and was not heard from again. That is, until the mecha reappears in an OG-related special scenario in SRW DD, It's equipped with a Tesla Drive, the Gravicon System used by the MK-III and 2 Graviton Rifles allowing it to hold its own against Galilnagant but still wound up heavily damaged when it was hit with Axion Asher.
SRW OG2/SRW OGs2[]
Unit 1 later saw action during the Inspector War as Bullet's personal mecha. In OG2, part of the ATX Team, it supported Lamia Loveless and her Angelg from DC forces when the android first arrived at the OG world. In OGs2, before their encounter with Lamia, the ATX Team went on a mission to retake the Tesla Reich Institute from DC remnant forces. The Huckebein Mk-II went head-on against the Guarlion Custom "Mumyou" but was soundly defeated, forcing Bullet to eject in the Personal Fighter. Fortunately, he later stumbled upon the Grungust Type-2 and used it to retake the Institute.
The Mk-II Unit 1 was left without a pilot after Bullet switched to the Grungust Type-3 Unit 3 along with Kusuha Mizuha.
SRW OGG[]
The Huckebein Mk-II was stored on the Hiryuu Kai during the events of OGG, still left without a pilot.
2nd SRW OG[]
The Huckebein Mk-II Units 1 and 2 met their end in 2nd OG after they, and the rest of the Huckebein Series were destroyed by the Galilnagant when they were about to be transported to the Hickam Air Force Base. This event marks the obscure Mk-II Unit 3 as the last remaining surviving unit bearing the Huckebein name.
SRW DD[]
The Huckebein Mk-II Unit 3 finally makes an appearance after years of obscurity, in the SRW DD special scenario "Last of Vanishing Trooper" which ties in directly with the OG timeline.
Armaments[]
- Twin Vulcan / Vulcan Cannon / Head 40mm CTA Autocannon (ツインバルカン / バルカン砲 / 頭部40mmCTA機関砲 | Tsuin Barukan / Barukan-Hou / Toubu 40mm CTA Kikanhou)
Two rapidly firing machine guns mounted on the Huckebein Mk-II's head. They're not very effective on Personal Troopers and similar sized enemies, but they're good for destroying small fighters and ground targets. Twin Vulcan is the Alpha name while Vulcan Cannon is the name seen in the OG games. With the release of the HG Huckebein Mk-II model kit, the Vulcan Cannons were retconned into the "Head 40mm CTA Autocannons", which utilizes Cased Telescoped Ammunition (CTA) with reduced catridge sizes to downsize the magazine.
- Light Sword / Beam Sword (ライトソード / ビームソード)
Cylindrical energy melee weapon. High-temperature plasma is confined within a special force field to form a cutting blade. Light Sword is the Alpha name while Beam Sword is the OG name. In OG, the weapon was developed from the Plasma Cutter used by the early Gespenst models, with some EOT also applied in its making. The emitters are stored within the side skirts when not in use. Swappable Weapon in OG.
- Photon Rifle (フォトン・ライフル)
Handheld rifle. Despite its name, it doesn't actually fire photons but utilize neutral particle beams instead. In Alpha, it is said to be in the same development lineage as the R-2's Magna Beam Rifle. EOT is applied for the rifle's firing system, energy convergence and trajectory correction. Swappable Weapon in OG.
- Chakram Shooter (チャクラム・シューター)
A launcher mounted on the left forearm that can fire a wire-guided circular sawblade at the enemy. A simplified version of the R-2's Wired Beam Chakram. For some reason it became a Swappable Weapon in OG1 and OG2 (in OG1 it can be seen fired from a handheld launcher), it eventually returned to being the Mk-II's Fixed Weapon in OGs.
- Graviton Rifle T (グラビトン・ライフルT)
A pair of Graviton Rifles from the Mk-III. They can be fired either separately or combined together for an enhanced shot. Equipped on the Huckebein Mk-II Unit 3. Resembles Huckebein 30's dual Graviton Rifles.
- G-Impact Cannon (Gインパクト・キャノン)
Short for Gravity Impact Cannon. A large external cannon deployed to the pilot at their request which acts as a substitute for the Huckebein's Black Hole Cannon. It fires a gravitational barrier generated by the Gravicon System, which crushes the enemy to smithereens upon impact. When firing, the Cannon is connected to the Mk-II's crotch section, which is where the Gravicon System is located.
Special Equipment[]
- T-Link System (T-LINKシステム)
Short for Telekinesis-Link System, it is a device capable of sensing and amplifying telekinetic brainwaves emitted from the pilot, transmitting said waves directly back into the machine. Since the Mk-II is not equipped with any telekinetic weapons or defenses, the system is mainly used for machine control and data collection.
- Uranus System (ウラヌス・システム)
- An extension of the T-Link System which activates when immediate danger to the mecha and pilot is detected, unlocking the full potential of the pilot's telekinetic abilities and pushing them to the absolute limit. This puts a heavy burden on the pilot mental state, which is why potent telekinetics with the potential to become "Psycodrivers" are required in order to draw out the machine's maximum capabilities.
- Gravicon System (グラヴィコンシステム)
A gravity manipulation system utilizing EOT. Housed within the Mk-II's crotch section. Used with the G-Wall and G-Impact Cannon.
- G-Wall (G・ウォール)
- Short for Gravity Wall. Defensive field generated through gravity manipulation with the Gravi-Con System. Reflected in-game as a Special Ability.
- Sword Equipment (剣装備 | Ken Soubi)
Huckebein Mk-II can parry enemy melee attacks. Adopted in Alpha.
