The Huckebein Gunner (ヒュッケバインガンナー), referring to either the Huckebein Gunner Type-L (ヒュッケバインガンナー・タイプL) or Huckebein Gunner Type-R (ヒュッケバインガンナー・タイプR), is a Banpresto Original Mecha debuting in Super Robot Wars Alpha. Part of the Huckebein Series, it is formed through the combination of Huckebein Mk-III Type-R (OG) / Huckebein Mk-III Type-L with the AM Gunner support module.
Technological & Historical[]
When the Huckebein Mk-III docks with the support aircraft AM Gunner, the Huckebein Gunner is formed. Specializing in long-range artillery battles, the AM Gunner drastically increases the Huckebein Mk-III's speed, mobility and operation range to make up for the decreased close-quarters combat capabilities. The formation also incorporates the pilots from both units, as well as the individual weapons of the Huckebein Mk-III and AM Gunner into a single mecha, allowing for high flexibility on the battlefield. These improvements essentially enables the Huckebein Gunner to act as a highly mobile gun turret, capable of dispatching large amounts of enemies from a distance with its bombardment-based weapons.
Alpha Series[]
SRW Alpha[]
The Huckebein Gunner is usable after Ling Mao delivers the AM Parts to Londo Bell following the Huckebein Mk-III's activation. Never seen again after SRW Alpha. Only the Type-L is capable of forming Huckebein Gunner.
OG Series[]
SRW OG2/SRW OGs2[]
The Huckebein Gunner Type-L is first seen in combat against Inspector forces attacking Mao Industries' Moon facility, where Ryouto Hikawa docks his newly-activated Huckebein Mk-III Type-L with Rio Mei Long's AM Gunner to counter against the Greytarkin's Photon Beam Cannon, which they succeed in, hitting the Greytarkin's propulsion systems and forcing the invaders to retreat.
If the conditions to revert the Huckebein Mk-III Trombe back to the Mk-III Type-R are met, the Huckebein Gunner Type-R will also be available to the player, stationed on the Hagane during the raid on the Earth Cradle.
SRW OGG[]
The Huckebein Gunner would still see action during the Shura Rebellion along with the Huckebein Mk-IIIs.
2nd SRW OG[]
With the destruction of both Mk-III units, along with all of the Huckebein Series mecha (save for the Mk-II Unit 3) at the hands of the Galilnagant in 2nd OG, the Huckebein Gunner configuration will never be seen again, replaced with the Exbein Boxer instead.
Armaments & Attacks[]
Armaments[]
- Twin Vulcan / Vulcan Cannon (ツインバルカン / バルカン砲 Vulcan-Hou)
Two rapidly firing machine guns originally mounted on the Huckebein Mk-III's head. They're not very effective on Personal Troopers and similar sized enemies, but they're good for destroying small fighters and ground targets. Twin Vulcan is the Alpha name while Vulcan Cannon is the OG name.
- Multi-Trace Missile (マルチトレースミサイル)
A pair of deployable missile pods are mounted on the Mk-III's back, one on each binder. Each pod is equipped with 40 small missiles for a total of 80 missiles. MAP Attack.
- Leap Missile (リープ・ミサイル)
A volley of missiles fired from the inner side of the AM Gunner's side compartments. MAP Attack.
- Roche Saber (ロシュセイバー)
Energy swords originally equipped by the Mk-III, based on those used by the Huckebein. The energy blade is generated through gravity waves utilizing the Gravi-Con System. Due to the Roche Saber becoming a Swappable Weapon in OG, the Huckebein Gunner can no longer use it.
- Fang Slasher (ファング・スラッシャー)
Originally a weapon of the Mk-III, it is stored on the Mk-III's left forearm. When used, the weapon opens up into a large cross-shaped shuriken and is thrown at the enemy. The weapon's edges also emit beams for extra damage.
- Graviton Rifle (グラビトン・ライフル)
Originally a weapon of the Mk-III, it is essentially a miniaturized version of the Huckebein Mk-II's G-Impact Cannon, now wieldable with one arm. Although less powerful than its base model, it is still quite a formidable weapon, and its compact size allows for more flexibility on the battlefield. When used, the Rifle is seen emerging from a within warp field in Alpha, however with OG it is deployed to the Boxer externally through the use of purgeable booster parts.
- Gravity Ring (グラビティ・リング)
A band of Zol Orihalconium is fired from a G-Impact Cannon barrel, which is then guided by the pilot's telekinesis to circle around the enemy in a ring shape, before shrinking and crushing the target into oblivion using gravity. When initiating the attack, the Huckebein Mk-III places its left hand in a praying gesture, then points at the target with its index finger after the Ring launches. It bears a striking resemblance to Antenora's Draupnir Ring attack. Only seen in Alpha.
The Gravity Ring's shape is made to resemble character Sun Wukong's Golden Fillet from the Chinese medieval novel Journey to the West, while the hand gestures made by the Mk-III are similar to the ones used for enacting the "Tight-Fillet Curse" that secures the Golden Fillet onto Sun Wukong's head.
- G-Impact Cannon (Gインパクト・キャノン)
Also known as Gravity Impact Cannon. Developed from the Huckebein Mk-II's weapon of same name, 4 of these are mounted on the AM Gunner, controlled through use of the Gravi-Con System.
Solo Attacks[]
Full Impact Cannon (フルインパクト・キャノン) Huckebein Gunner's ultimate attack. By increasing the Mk-III's Tronium Engine's output, the Huckebein Gunner fires all 4 G-Impact Cannons at once, before using Gravity Territory to manipulate the unleashed gravity bursts into a powerful gravity field that crushes everything within it.
