The Giganscudo Duro (ジガンスクード・ドゥロ), also known as GanDuro (ガンドゥロ) is a Banpresto Original Mecha debuting in Super Robot Wars Original Generation 2. It was upgraded from the Giganscudo.
Technological And Historical[]
OG Series[]
An upgraded version of the Giganscudo, devised by Prof. Marion Radom. Stress-reducing TGC joints seen on the Grungust Series have been utilized on the Duro, along with old Seize Shields being replaced by the new offensive-oriented Seize Anchors, increasing the mecha's overall melee combat ability. A customized Gravi-Con System have also been installed, allowing for the usage of a defensive G-Territory field.
SRW OGs2[]
While completing the new Seize Anchor modules sent by Prof. Marion Radom, Tasuku and members of the Octopus Squadron were sortied out from the Hiryuu Kai to engage a group of DC remnants in space, encountering Murata and his Guarlion Custom "Mumyou". It should be noted that the Giganscudo deployed during this mission already had most of its bodily upgrades finished, and was only lacking the Seize Anchors to fully become the Duro. In battle, the Mumyou dealt heavy damage to the Giganscudo's Seize Shields, causing Tasuku to request for the Seize Anchors to be sent out from the Hiryuu Kai. The Giganscudo exchanges its Seize Shields with the Seize Anchors, becoming the Giganscudo Duro, and engages the Mumyou again, forcing Murata to retreat. The GanDuro was then incorporated as part of the Steel Dragon Squadron's combat force.
SRW OG Chronicle[]
Primarily appeared in Volume 1 Chapter 5 "New Year Manga Festival: Strongest Shield vs Space Flounder - Will the Boy's Flower of Love Bloom in Freezing Space?". When clearing out debris near the Columna space station, Tasuku and Leona encountered the gigantic Flat Fish hiding within an asteroid. It proved to be a troublesome opponent, heavily damaging GanDuro, as well as releasing numerous Tadpoles to attack GanDuro and Leona's Guarlion Custom. Despite so, GanDuro still managed to defeat the Flat Fish through the special Meteor Hammer maneuver, while the Guarlion Custom dispatched the remaining Tadpoles by sacrificing its specialized external booster as a projectile.
SRW OGG[]
After the 4-way showdown of OG2, the GanDuro was stationed on the Hiryuu Kai, fighting through the Bartoll Incident and the Shura Turbulence. Vol 1 Chapter 5 of OG Chronicle was also adapted in the game, though the Meteor Hammer attack itself was not included.
2nd SRW OG[]
Caught up in the Surface Dweller Summoning Incident, Tasuku and GanDuro were teleported to the underground world of La Gias along with the Hiryuu Kai crew. GanDuro, along with Katina Tarask's and Russel Bergman's Mass-Production Gespenst Mk-II Kais were initially separated from the Hiryuu Kai, but soon regrouped with the ship along with the Valsione, Granveil, Jaohm, and the missing Alteisen Riese (having just returned from Another Century's Episode:R's universe). It fought until the end of the La Gias civil war.
SRW OGMD[]
Armaments & Attacks[]
Armaments[]
- Weapon Breaker (ウェポンブレイカー)
A special projectile used to reduce enemies' attack damage.
- G-Circle Blaster (G・サークルブラスター)
In OG2, this is a burst of energy originating from the Giganscudo Duro expanding in a spherical area, damaging all enemies within the weapon's range. In OGs, the shoulder and knee armor sections open up to reveal emitters, generating a quartet of energy rings to be launched at the surrounding area. MAP Weapon.
- Seize Anchor (シーズアンカー)
The Giganscudo Duro's new primary armament, a gigantic pair of claws, replacing the old Seize Shields. The claws are wire-connected and can be shot out to attack and/or restrain the enemy.
- Gigant Knuckle (ギガントナックル)
- Extending the Seize Anchors' claw joints forward, GanDuro punches the enemy.
- Giga Wide Blaster (ギガ・ワイドブラスター)
A powerful long-range energy blaster mounted on the chest. ALL Attack in OGs.
Solo Attacks[]
- Gigante Unghia (ジガンテ・ウンギア | Giant Nail)
Giganscudo Duro's ultimate attack. Charging the Seize Anchors with electricity, GanDuro fires the Anchors to restrain the enemy and electrocutes them, followed by a finíhing ram. From OGs onwards, after restraining and electrocuting the enemy, GanDuro hurls them upwards, then retracts the Anchors to draw them closer, before deploying an energy field in front of itself to crash the enemy into smithereens.
- Meteor Hammer (メテオ・ハンマー)
A special attack devised by Tasuku to defeat the Flat Fish, seen in SRW OG Chronicle Vol 1 Chapter 5. Allowing the Flat Fish to devastatingly ram into GanDuro in order to restrain it by reversing GanDuro's G-Territory, Tasuku fired the Seize Anchors to take hold of a pair of giant asteroid fragments from afar, before crushing the Flat Fish between the fragments with their sheer momentum. This attack's name is also included as one of Tasuku's battle lines when using Gigante Unghia in 2nd OG.
Special Equipment[]
- Tesla Drive (テスラドライブ)
A device capable of separation between gravitational and inertial mass and provide spatial propulsion by spreading action points throughout a specialized T-Dot Array field. Standard equipment on many mobile weapons. Reflected in-game as the Giganscudo Duro's flight capability.
- G-Territory (G・テリトリー)
Defensive field generated through gravity manipulation with the Gravi-Con System. Reflected in-game as a Special Ability.
