The Granzon (グランゾン Guranzon) is a fictional robot in the Super Robot Wars Taisen series. Its upgrade is the Neo Granzon. It appears as an enemy unit in Super Robot Taisen Gaiden, the 3rd Super Robot Taisen, Super Robot Taisen EX, the 4th Super Robot Taisen, Super Robot Wars F Final, Super Robot Wars Alpha, Super Robot Wars Alpha Gaiden and Super Robot Wars Original Generation. It makes a cameo appearance in Super Robot Wars Original Generation 2, and is briefly playable in Super Robot Wars Gaiden, Super Robot Wars OG: Original Generations and Super Robot Taisen Original Generation Gaiden and was a late game unit in 2nd Super Robot Taisen Original Generation.
Contrary to popular fan speculation, the name Granzon is not Greek for "commandment". Since none of the other Divine Crusaders units or Masō Kishin units have names based on actual words (except the 'LION' series), it is safe to assume the name Granzon is simply an invented one.
Technical And Historical[]
The Granzon is one of the first machines developed by the Divine Crusaders. The design is planned out by Shu Shirakawa, a member of the faction and a good friend of their leader, Bian Zoldark. The Granzon is so costly to develop and construct that it consumed two-thirds of the Divine Crusader's budget. It's also known that Shu used alchemy from La Gias to enhance the power of the Granzon.
The Granzon uses an antimatter annihilation engine, a perfectly efficient energy source. The annihilation engine is able to meet the immense energy requirements of the Granzon's weapon systems, which all involve gravity and time-space manipulation. An advanced artificial intelligence program also allows the Granzon to engage up to 65,536 enemies at once. So far, the only units said to be able to hold the Granzon one-on-one are the Astranagant, Dis Astranagant, Shurouga, Cybuster (in its full possession mode), and Zelvoid (in its full possession mode).
In the Alpha Timeline; the Granzon is the test-bed for all the Extra-Over Technology used for the machines in the SRX Development Project. It is later re-designated as DCSMH-03, being the third after the Valsion and the Valsione of the Divine Crusaders' Super Machinery Humanoids.
Neo Granzon[]
Neo Granzon
When Shu's power taps into the dark god Volkruss, he is able to morph the Granzon into the Neo Granzon. It's said that this is the completed form of the Granzon. The Neo Granzon it's made up of EOT and the best magical dark alchemy of La Gias and is considered one of the strongest machines ever created. In Original Generation Gaiden, it is revealed that Shu uses the Kabbalah System to tap into the powers of Volkruss. However, the Neo Granzon isn't the incarnation of Volkruss, and only uses his powers, however in Masou Kishin 3 Shu would demonstrate that he can initiate the morph by using his own powers, even replacing the summoning incantation with a Physics lecture.
Despite the great power of the Neo Granzon, it was destroyed by the heroes of each timeline, stopping the plots of Shu (or Volkruss) and delaying the resurrection of Volkruss. The Neo Granzon was "re-built" by Louzorl when he revived Shu but due to his blunder this time both Shu and the Neo Granzon were free from the grasp of Volkruss. In an ironic twist of fate, eventually the Neo Granzon and Cybuster joined forces to destroy the evil god.

- Worm Smasher ワームスマッシャー (Wāmu Sumasshā)
The Granzon opens up a wormhole in front of itself and fires several energy shots into it. Wormholes then open up at different angles around the target, and the shots emerge from them, attacking it from all angles.
- Distorion Break ディストリオンブレイク (Disutorion Bureiku)
The Granzon opens up a series of linear wormholes in front of itself and fires an energy shot froms its chest that breaks towards the wormholes, increasing its speed and destroying everything in its path towards its target, this attack appears in Masou Kishin 2, Super Robot Taisen OG Dark Prison and Masou Kishin F where it's Ranked up from Worm Smasher.
- Black Hole Cluster ブラックホールクラスター (Burakku Hōru Kurasutā)
The Granzon opens it's chest, and generates micro black-holes around it's hands, along with a single black hole above it's chest conductor poles. After a brief delay, the black holes merge, and the Granzon breaks the new black hole's event horizon, creating a naked singularity. The singularity grows, absorbing surrounding material, until eventually, the Granzon stops, and throws it. The target(s) are drawn into the Black Hole, and trapped until it reaches it's limit and explodes.
- Prototype Degeneration Cannon 試作型縮退砲 ( Shisakugata Shukutaihō)
The Granzon opens the covering on its chest and reveals a cannon. It then fires a large energy ball at the target which draws the enemy into it before bursting in a cosmic explosion that wipes out the solar system. This attack only appears in Super Robot Wars Alpha. In all other games, the only Degeneration Cannon is the full-fledged model, used only by Neo Granzon.
- Black Hole Disruptor ブラックホールディスラプター ( Burakku Hōru Disuraputā)
The Granzon opens its chest like with Black Hole Cluster but its yellow orbs and opened chest compartment glow a sinister red before generating a red energy ball around its hands that quickly grows to a large size before firing it at the enemy. Upon impact, the large energy ball splits into several smaller orbs that proceed to connect together via energy lines to resemble a icosahedron before splitting into 2 large red prana circles that bear a similarity to Cybuster's prana circles. The prana circles above and below the enemy spin rapidly before exploding into a singularity that sucks in planets and matter, eventually causing a huge explosion large enough to encompass a galaxy. This attack only appears in Super Robot Wars DD as a new SSR for the Granzon and is stated to be a renamed Prototype Degeneration Cannon, implying to use a portion of Volkruss' power due to the prana circles.

The Neo Granzon generates a storm of energy as it's halo and orbs light up, beginning to glow. The target is engulfed in the storm, and the Granzon opens it's chest, generating three black holes above each of it's chest conductor poles. The Neo Granzon then proceeds to crush all three singularities together, along with a significant amount of nearby matter. This eventually culminates in a massive explosion, not unlike the birth of a star. The Neo Granzon now has a glowing, purple sphere floating before it, and it hurls this at the target, generating a massive explosion that eventually encompasses an entire galaxy. This is the complete weapon, unlocked alongside the Neo Granzon.
