The Fairlion Type-G (フェアリオン・タイプS) is a Banpresto Original Mecha debuting in Super Robot Wars Original Generation 2. It is the sister unit to the Fairlion Type-S.
Technological And Historical[]
OG Series[]
The Fairlions were developed by the Tesla Reich Institute at the request of Duchy of Riksent princess Shine Hausen, receiving financial support from the Duchy. Originally, the Fairlion was devised as a tourist attraction planned by Riksent's tourism agency, modeled after the image character "Magical Princess Sent Rikse" (said to be designed based on Princess Shine herself), as part of an effort to help Riksent quickly recover from damage sustained during the DC War. However, with the emergence of various hostile factions across the Solar System in NAD 187, Princess Shine felt the need to repurpose the Fairlion as a flagship unit for the country's elite guard. Since the Duchy of Riksent is a neutral country, they are not capable of independently developing mobile weapons, which is why they asked the Tesla Reich Institute for a "ceremonial robot" derived from technology used in Project TD (aimed at interstellar cruising). Utilizing these loopholes, Riksent's acquisition of the Fairlion was made possible.
With lead researcher Jonathan Kazahara and Series 77 developer Filio Presty taking charge of the project, the Fairlion units were designed as exceedingly miniaturized versions of the Series 77 Armored Modules, boasting high agilily and minimized weight, specifically built to work in tandem together with Shine Hausen and Latune Subbota as the pilots. Using the Astelion as a design base, nearly 80% of the machine's test frame was adapted for the Fairlion's frame construction, along with a brand-new motion system innovated by Jonathan and Filio, known as "Vecto Romena" (ベクトロメナ). Through the installation of 5 limited-function Tesla Drives on the rear skirt armor, a large T-Dot Array field is deployed all over the Fairlion, which is then utilized as driving force to move the machine's limbs and joints, negating the need for conventional servomotors (aside from those used for taxiing), along with overall reducing stress induced on the machine due to the numerous contact points within the field. T-Dot Array data collected from the Barrelion has also been implemented, rendering pylons unnecessary. The 2 remaining offensive-use Tesla Drives on the shoulders are devised from the Astelion's, adjusted so that they don't repel the Type-G's respective Drives during tandem maneuvers of the two machines. Ramjet engines are also installed on the rear skirt to provide additional thrust. Despite emphasizing mobility in exchange for armor, the Fairlion is also capable of defending itself by covering its body with the aforementioned field, providing decent protection in the event that the machine does get hit. Along with that is a Hyper Jammer System to increase survivability. For the Type-G in particular, a Brainwave Control System similar to that of the Grungust's is installed to make up for Princess Shine's lack of piloting skills.
One of the most special features of the Fairlion units is the MMI called the W-I3NK System. It enables Latune's Type-S to remotely control Shine's Type-G when required, along with processing data received from Shine's precognition ability. This system is activated when Latune needs to provide maneuvering support for the Princess in emergencies, as well as during the Fairlions' combination attack - Royal Heart Breaker. The W-I3NK System can also be activated solo by each Fairlion when using Sonic Driver.
SRW OG2/SRW OGs2[]
The Fairlions were developed at the Tesla Reich Institute at the request of the Duchy of Riksent, but had to be quickly evacuated unfinished along with other valuable robots and pilots when the Inspectors attacked and took over the Institute. After being brought to the Hagane, the Fairlions received final adjustments before debuting during the battle to recapture Riksent, where they assisted in driving away the occupying Neue DC forces. They were then incorporated as part of the Steel Dragon Squadron's combat force.
SRW OGG[]
After the 4-way conflict of OG2, the Fairlions were stored away at the Tesla Reich Institute. Princess Shine piloted the Type-G against Shura forces attacking the Institute alongside the Astelion AX, Gespenst Type-RV, Grungust Type-0 and RyuKoOh/KoRyuOh before regrouping with the Steel Dragon Squadron to receive robots and supplies in anticipation of upcoming battles.
2nd SRW OG[]
While cleaning the Type-G's cockpit, Princess Shine and her machine were caught up in the Surface Dweller Summoning Incident and summoned to La Gias, where the Princess was taken hostage by Stedonias forces and imprisoned in an occupied Langran base, along with Brooklyn Luckfield and Kusuha Mizuha in their Grungust Type-3. They were later all freed through the efforts of Huang Yang Long and Lune Zoldark, and the Type-G was capable of deploying in combat. Since Shine managed to pilot the Type-G against enemy forces all by her own during her time in La Gias without support from Latune's Type-S, it can be assumed that her piloting skills have been greatly improved since the Shura Turbulence.
SRW OGMD[]
Armaments & Attacks[]
Armaments[]
- Assault Blade (アサルトブレード)
Handheld combat blade equipped with a chainsaw, powered by a cylindrical battery. Originally developed for Armored Modules, it can also be used by Personal Troopers due to the Universal Connector at the weapon's handle. Swappable Weapon.
- Roll Cannon
4 beam cannons mounted behind the Fairlion's head, shaped after hair rollers. They are built with high-end materials devised from Zol Orichalconium research.
- Vostok Laser (ボストーク・レーザー)
Laser cannons stored behind covers on the Fairlion's shoulders fire in tandem with a third emitter on the chest to form a large spiraling laser beam. From 2nd OG onwards, the laser is only fired from the shoulder cannons. The shoulder Tesla Drives also aid in adjusting the firing trajectory of the laser.
"Vostok" is Russian for "east", and is the name of a former Soviet Union manned spaceship in the early 1960s.
- Sonic Swayer (ソニック・スウェイヤー)
Melee combat blades mounted on the Fairlion's forearms, used during Sonic Driver and Royal Heart Breaker. They operate on the same principle as with the Guarlion's Sonic Breaker, securing in place electromagnetically thermal inducted metal particles using an induction field along the edges to deal damage.
Solo Attacks[]
- Sonic Driver (ソニック・ドライバー)
The Fairlion's ultimate solo attack, utilizing the same principles seen on the Guarlion. Activating the W-I3NK System in Single Mode, the shoulder-mounted Tesla Drives are flipped to the front. An induction field is then deployed, which the Fairlion uses to ram the enemy, before switching to slashing the enemy up with the Sonic Swayers.
Combination Attacks[]
- Royal Heart Breaker (ロイヤル・ハート・ブレイカー)
Combination attack with the Fairlion Type-G. The W-I3NK System is activated in Double Mode on both Fairlions, passing control of both units to the Type-S. In the form of a beautifully choreographed dance, the Fairlions engage the enemy in perfect synchronization. Each Fairlion first attack the enemy individually with the Sonic Swayers, then join together for a series of thrusts and slashes in tandem, all while performing elegant dance moves. From OGs onwards, for the finishing maneuver, dubbed "Final Break", both Fairlions charge at the enemy with a Sonic Driver crash.
The motion for the attack, adopted by Filio and Jonathan, was originally from the choreography of a famous 1990s Japanese idol group, "Wink"(which explains the naming of the W-I3NK System).
Special Equipment[]
- Brainwave Control System (脳波コントロールシステム)
A system similar to that of the Grungust's installed to make up for Princess Shine's lack of piloting skills, allowing her to pilot the Type-G partially with her thoughts, which also puts her precognition ability to good use.
- Energy Field (Eフィールド)
Protective field generated from the Tesla Drives' T-Dot Array.
- Hyper Jammer System (ハイパージャマーシステム)
Special jamming system used to confuse missile-type projectiles.
- Afterimage (分身 | Bunshin)
- Effects of the Hyper Jammer.
- Pilot Block (パイロットブロック)
Disables all pilot-related special effects.
