The F-28 Messer (F-28メッサー) is the mainline atmospheric fighter during the first SRW OG game. Later replaced with the F-32 Schwert, it serves as the starting machine for several characters near the beginning of the game.
Technological And Historical[]
The F-28 Messer is utilized by the TFF as their mainline atmospheric fighter during the DC war and L-5 campaign, however during the six months before the beginning of the second game, the Shwert seems to have largely replaced it.
The F-28 comes in multiple paint-jobs in the games, one blue with grey trim, and the other primary one is grey with green trim.
The fighter is noted for its 2D Thrust deflection nozzles, and the delta-wings attached to its forewings. It is stated to be a potent multi-purpose air-to-air and air-to-ground fighter, and comes equipped with a short-ranged Vulcan as well as homing missiles.
The F-28 as it appears in SRW OG's - Notably, this pallet is used for all Player-character F-28's except the temporarily playable one piloted by Irm.

- Vulcan Cannon (バルカン砲)
A forward-mounted Vulcan on the nose of the fighter, only usable at short ranges.
- Homing Missile (ホーミングミサイル)
Homing missiles mounted on the underside of the F-28's wings. In the anime, there are 2 under each wing. However in the PS2 remake, OG's, it fires 3 from each wing. Notably, in the GBA game, it fired fewer.

- "Messer" means "Knife" in German, and the Schwert, which replaced the Messer, means "Sword" in German.
