The 'Einst' (German for 'the past' or 'once') refer to a space-based collective of extraterrestrials that have made appearances in the Super Robot Wars series. The Einst have appeared in the Super Robot Wars Compact 2 trilogy, Super Robot Wars Impact, and Super Robot Wars Original Generations, being an antagonistic force in all these games.

Background[]

According to the Neue Regisseur, it claims that the Einst are the original watchers of the Earth, the same planet where humans, and other humanoid races in the galaxy, originated. The planet, known as The Land Of Beginning to the Einst, was where they were born. Why the Einst decided to leave Earth for another dimension is unknown.

Characteristic[]

The Einst behave similarly to a Borg-like collective. Its leader, the Neue Regisseur, oversees all Einst activity, and is their collective consciousness. While the Einst cannot physically communicate through speech, they are more commonly known to do so through the use of telepathy, which explains why Kyosuke Nanbu and Excellen Browning were the only ones to hear them, initially. It is not known what the Einst truly look like, as they appear in different forms during their encounters with the protagonist groups in the respective Super Robot Wars games. However, they all share the ability to instantaneously teleport to any location they desire. How they acquired this is unknown, but this teleportation technique allows the Einst to jump to any universe. Speculation of this comes from Beowulf's appearance in the Shadow-Mirror dimension and Wendolo the Leader of  the Inspector in taking over the Earth invasion, where it seems some form of Einst  has taken over them, thereby providing evidence they can exist in other universes.

The goal of the Einst is to keep the peace in the many universes, like a guardian or caretaker. Exactly who gave this authority to them is unknown, but should this peace be interrupted by any internal forces that threaten to unbalance the order of that universe, the Einst will move into that dimension and wipe it out of existence. They will then rebuild it from its ashes and reboot the process.

While the Einst does not see itself as some deified entity, they are rather stubborn at playing their role as guardian, unwillingly to let go of their duty. However, in all their appearances, the Einst would be defeated by the protagonist group, as the connection with the Neue Regisseur to the rest of its collective would be severed. All undestroyed Einst elements would fade away to dust. However, as of Original Generations, the Einst technology that have bonded with Excellen Browning's Rein Weiss Ritter still remain, thereby fueling speculation of whether the Einst have truly been destroyed. They would later reappear in Original Generation Gaiden having become the Jetzt.

Technology and Units[]

Einst Eisen[]

The 'Einst Eisen' (German for once iron) has an appearance that is near identical to that of the PTX-003C Alt Eisen, from physical features to weaponry. Einst Alchimie wanted something that would remind her of the Alt Eisen's pilot, Kyosuke Nanbu, and thus created this Einst unit. However, the Einst Eisen doesn't fully resemble the original Personal Trooper, as this form was the best copy Alfimi could think of. The Einst Eisen's chassis is gray in color, except the head and torso, which are red, the feet are replaced by talons and green, vine-like ligaments hold the arms of the Einst Eisen to its body. Like the Alt Eisen, the Einst Eisen excels in close-to-mid range combat, and usually accompanies Alfimi's Persönlichkeit. But unlike the rest of the Einst series, the Einst Eisen does not have a red orb, supposedly to represent the unit's core.

Height: 22.4 meters

Weight: 70.6 tons

Weapons Systems:

★★ Kühn Bohrer: The Einst version of the "Armor Breaker."

★★ Machinen Gewehr: A three-barreled machine gun cannon, mounted on the Einst Eisen's left arm. This attack mimic's the Alt Eisen's Autocannon attack.

★★ Holz Schraube: An oversized stake, mounted on the Einst Eisen's right arm. The Einst Eisen charges towards its enemy, impaling the unit with the stake, while setting off an explosive charge that drives the stake deeper, breaking the unit's armor. This attack mimic's the Alt Eisen's Revolving Stake attack.

★★★ The Original Generations animation of this attack has the Einst Eisen grab its target, repeatedly slamming the stake into its armor, finally letting loose a charge that knocks its target back.

★★ Quadrat Mine: The Einst Eisen reveals hidden compartments on its shoulders and unleashes a hail of mines that detonate on contact with its target. This attack mimics the Alt Eisen's Heavy Claymore attack.

Einst Gemuet[]

The 'Einst Gemuet' (German for once emotion) most resembles that of a medieval suit of armor. Save the red orb, located on its torso, which is the core of the unit, the Einst Gemuet is completely hollow and the strongest grunt unit of the Einst series. Purple is the predominant color, with gold highlights laced around each armor part. Also, the Einst Gemuet's helmet has two protruding horns, similar to bull horns.

Einst Glied[]

The 'Einst Glied' (German for once limb) is a plant-based mobile weapon of the Einst series. Its appearance resembles that of a series of green vine-like tentacles, covered and hooded by a blue cloak, laced with gold highlights. Located on the torso region of the Einst Glied is a red orb, a distinctive trait of all Einst-related units. While the Einst Glied is intended for long-range combat, it is not the preferred unit suited for melee combat.

Einst Knochen[]

The 'Einst Knochen' (German for once bone) is composed to resemble that of a skeleton, but specifically does not have any known skeletal appearance of any creature. This Einst unit has many yellow protruding bone-like parts around its body, while its main structure is white in color, with a red orb located on the torso region, a distinctive trait of all Einst-related units. The Einst Knochen is not intended for long-range combat, so it makes up for close-to-mid range combat, with the use of a set of powerful, crushing claws.

★ ★ ★ The Original Generations animation of this attack has the Einst Knochen telekinetically remove two bone blades from its shoulders, sending them towards its target for a cutting attack.

Einst Regisseur[]

Towering over 100 meters tall, the 'Einst Regisseur' (German for once director) is an amalgamation of parts from the Einst Gemuet, Einst Glied and the Einst Knochen series, with four vine-like tentacles as its left arm and an oversized claw as its right. The main body of the Einst Regisseur is composed of reinforced, purple armor, while protruding wings, horns and a bone-based tail make up the rest of the unit.

Neue Regisseur[]

A composition of a few Einst Regisseur units, the 'Neue Regisseur' (German for new director) keeps the Einst Regisseur appearance, but is also given a pair of legs to utilize. The Neue Regisseur reveals itself to be the head of the Einst. This Einst unit does not appear in Original Generations.

Stern Regisseur[]

In its unbending will to complete its mission, the Neue Regisseur, after throwing the crew of the Kurogane and Hiryu Custom out from Einst space back into Earth space, fuses itself with the White Star, becoming the 'Stern Regisseur' (German for star director), transforming the satellite into an organic monstrosity. With a diameter of over 100 kilometers, the Stern Regisseur is by far the largest Einst unit to exist, while accompanied with endless hordes of the Einst Eisen, Einst Gemuet, Einst Glied, Einst Knochen and Einst Regisseur series. This Einst unit only appears in the Original Generation games.

In Original Generations, instead of transporting the crews of Kurogane and Hiryu Custom out of Einst space, the Neue Regisseur emerged in this form immediately, dubbed by fans as the Stern Neue Regisseur. It is unknown whether it fused with the White Star beforehand, thus retconning the eventual destruction of the White Star, according to the extra scenario in Original Generation 2.

Wahrschein Lichkeit[]

When the Stern Regisseur was defeated, a portion of its consiousness survived, taking a form similar to the Persönlichkeit. It began manipulating dimensional space, attempting to return to the Land of Beginnings. This manipulation ultimately resulted in the creation of the Endless Frontier. When the king of one of those worlds discovered the Einst, Wahrschein Lichkeit replaced him with a duplicate, which it used to try to plunge all the worlds of the frontier into a destructive war.
