The Aussenseiter (アウセンザイター) is a Banpresto Original Mecha debuting in Super Robot Wars Original Generation 2. It is the second Dynamic General Guardian unit. Its primary pilot is Ratsel Feinschmecker.
Technological & Historical[]
The second Dynamic General Guardian unit developed, the Aussenseiter is a mobile Special Unit geared towards gunfighting, made specifically for pilot Ratsel Feinschmecker. Though it reuses the same frame seen in its partner unit DyGenGuar, the Aussenseiter employs a radically different combat style, speeding across the battlefield with its feet-mounted "Felze Rad" (フェルゼ・ラート | Heel Wheel) wheels and blasting enemies with the "Lanze Kanone" (detailed below) twin hand rifles. The mecha's feet are also equipped with miniature Tesla Drives which assist in the swift movements of the Felze Rads through controlling inertial mass. Out of the currently known DGGs, the Aussenseiter is the only unit that uses a standard cockpit system instead of a Direct Motion Link System (designed similar to the Valsion's in the games, while The Inspector version has the seating area shaped after a bike).
Another specialty of the Aussenseiter is that through the activation of "Pferd Mode" (プフェールト・モード), the mecha can transform into a gigantic horse for its partner DyGenGuar to ride on and commence horseback fighting. In this form, Aussenseiter is capable of seemingly galloping through void space due to the effects of the Tesla Drives mounted on its feet. DyGenGuar also dons Aussenseiter's discarded cape. When united as one, both DGG units could compensate for their respective individual weaknesses: DyGenGuar's low mobility and Pferd Mode Aussenseiter's lack of weapons.
Similar to other mobile weapons piloted by Ratsel Feinschmecker, the Aussenseiter is painted in his personal red-black colors and affectionally nicknamed "Trombe".
Alpha Series[]
The Aussenseiter was built at the Tesla Reich Institute and handed to Ratsel Feinschmecker to replace his Huckebein Mk-III Trombe some time after the Sealing War.
3rd SRW Alpha[]
The DyGenGuar, Aussenseiter, and R-Blade Custom appeared in front of the Alpha Numbers to provide support against the Golar Golem squadron, who jumped at the chance for an assault right after GaoGaiGar defeated the New Machine Species Zonuda Robo in combat.
OG Series[]
The first two DGG units, DyGenGuar and Aussenseiter, were conceived by Prof. Bian Zoldark as the personal machines of Sanger Sombold and Elzam V. Branstein respectively. Development began during the DC War, however with Bian's death and the DC's hierarchy order collapsing, the machines were left unfinished and stored within the Tesla Reich Institute's bottommost hangar, where they would be further completed by the staff.
SRW OG2/SRW OGs2[]
When the Tesla Reich Institute was taken over by the Inspectors, the staff there still continued to work on the DGGs in utmost secrecy. Sanger and Ratsel later took part in the battle to retake the institute, with Sanger's Grungust Type-3 holding off the Inspector forces on the outside as Ratsel disembarked from his Huckebein Mk-III Trombe, infiltrated the facility and rescued the staff. Seeing how the Type-3 is struggling against the Galgau, Ratsel requested for the immediate deployment of the Aussenseiter, however its charging period is not yet finished, which is why the DyGenGuar was sent out first. Following the DyGenGuar's deployment and subsequent timely activation, Ratsel was finally capable of sortieing in the second DGG and provide covering fire.
The Aussenseiter fought together with the rest of the Steel Dragon Squadron in the battles to come, which includes Operation Plantagenet, the battle at the Earth Cradle (where Sanger and Wodan finally settled their score), and in the final showdown against Inspector, Shadow-Mirror and Einst forces.
SRW OGs2.5/SRW OGG[]
Following the Inspector Incident and the ensuing 4-way conflict, the Aussenseiter was stationed on the Kurogane, as the ship carried out covert operations from the shadows in order to maintain peace. It saw deployment when the Kurogane arrived to provide support for Steel Dragon Squadron during the raid on Hellgate, as well as in the resulting showdown with Wilhelm V. Jürgen's Valsion Kai Type-CF.
It later participated in various battles against the Shura, Duminas and her Techniti Paides, Dark Brain, and Shu Shirakawa's Neo Granzon, culminating in the decisive Operation Overgate.
2nd SRW OG[]
SRW OGMD[]
SRW X-Omega[]
Debuts in event "This is the Infinite Frontier" (ここが無限の開拓地) in August 2019 as an SSR Shooter.
SRW 30[]
Debuts in DLC 3. DyGenGuar and Aussenseiter appears as a single unit altogether, with Aussenseiter fixed in its Pferd Mode.
Armaments & Attacks[]
- Schulter Platte (シュルター・プラッテ | Shoulder Plate)
A pair of circular throwable shields mounted on the Aussenseiter's shoulders. When thrown, an energy field is deployed along the shields' circumference to increase damage. Aussenseiter can also use the shields as reflectors to alter the trajectory of the Lanze Kanone shots in the Sturm Angriff attack, showing that the shields are robust enough to withstand direct hits from said rifles.
- Lanze Kanone (ランツェ・カノーネ | Lance Cannon)
The Aussenseiter's main weapons, a pair of high-powered long-range rifles. Beam-based weapon in OG. The spiked protrusions below the rifles' barrels can also be used to impale enemies like a bayonet. When not in use, the rifles are folded up and stored on the back. They form Aussenseiter's front legs in Pferd Mode. Aussenseiter would usually attack with either one rifle or both rifles at once.
- Lanze Kanone W (ランツェ・カノーネW | Lance Cannon W)
- Aussenseiter attacks the enemy using both Lanze Kanones. The mecha would hold its position with this attack in OG2, however all succeeding games would see Aussenseiter stylishly dashing across the battlefield on its Felze Rads and mercilessly showering the enemy with a hail of bullets. From OGs onwards, an additional leaping maneuver is added, with the Moon at the background, as the mecha fires the final shots.
- Kreis Kanone (クライス・カノーネ | Circular Cannon)
Aussenseiter leaps up into the air and unleashes a Lanze Kanone barrage at the surrounding area below. MAP attack added from 2nd OG onwards.
- Sturm Angriff (シュツルム・アングリフ | Storm Assault)
Aussenseiter's ultimate attack, a skillful maneuver with the Lanze Kanones.
- OG2: Discarding its cape and dashing forth with the Felze Rads, Aussenseiter fires both Lanze Kanones, then impales the enemy with the right rifle, raises it around, before finishing with a point-blank blast.
- Alpha 3: With the setting sun behind its back, Aussenseiter dashes straight into the enemy formation from a cliff, then proceeds to precisely blast and slash the targets at all directions with the Lanze Kanones.
- OGs: Aussenseiter replicates its run n' gun sequence in OG2, then discards the left rifle, before covering the enemy with its cape and firing through said cape. The mecha then impales the target with its remaining Lanze Kanone, raises it overhead, and delivers the finishing shot.
- 2nd OG=>: Standing on a towering cliff with the setting sun in the background, Aussenseiter first discards its cape and performs a barrel roll while firing the Lanze Kanones. After descending from the cliff, the mecha follows up with another barrage as it circles around the enemy, then finally unleashes the final blast with both rifles, which ricochets from the right Schulter Platte that had been intentionally positioned behind the enemy, piercing through the target from behind. Aussenseiter puts away its rifles and redons its cape as the enemy explodes behind it.
- Tatsumaki Zankantou - Ikki Tousen (竜巻斬艦刀・逸騎刀閃 | Tornado Ship-Cleaving Blade - Great Horseback Blade Flash)
Combination attack between DyGenGuar and Aussenseiter. Both units activate their Pferd Modes, as Aussenseiter transforms into a giant horse for DyGenGuar to ride on, while DyGenGuar deploys the Zankantou in broadsword mode and dons its partner's cape. This process is dubbed as "Jinba Ittai" (人馬一体 | Man-Horse as One). The following attack animation varies depending on the game:
- OG2: On horseback, DyGenGuar slashes the enemy horizontally, flinging them up into the air. The DGGs then leap upwards and DyGenGuar delivers a finishing vertical slash, shuddering the ground.
- Alpha 3: After horizontally slashing the enemy, DyGenGuar follows by spinning the Zankantou at flashing speed, obliterating the target amidst a raging tornado of blade swings.
- OGs/OGG: Replicates the Alpha 3 version, with an additional finishing slash by DyGenGuar after the tornado blade spin, opening up a gaping hole in the clouds above.
- 2nd OG =>: The latest version of this attack is seemingly combined from the OG2 and the OGs animation. Aussenseiter gallops on void space using its feet-mounted Tesla Drives and leaps up, as DyGenGuar drops its mighty Zankantou on the enemy when its partner lands. After that, DyGenGuar follows with the usual tornado blade spin, then flings the enemy away, before boosting up and finishing the enemy with a final slash. The DGGs touch down on a large midair rock fragment as the enemy explodes next to them.
