Armored Trooper VOTOMS (装甲騎兵ボトムズ Sōkō Kihei Botomuzu) is a Japanese military science fiction mecha anime series produced by Sunrise and Hajime Yatate and directed by Ryosuke Takahashi. It is the first installment of the VOTOMS Series in production order, which began the trend of Sunrise's hard science meccha series like Fang of the Sun Dougram. The TV series originally aired from April 1, 1983 to March 23, 1984, and is currently licensed by Maiden Japan, a unit of Section23 Films for American distribution after it took over the now-defunct Central Park Media who released the series on DVD and VHS.

The VOTOMS Units may be mass-produced and expendable piles of experience, but may give trouble especially if the units are not adept on certain terrain or have low accuracy. Luckily, this is balanced by Chirico Cuvie and his playable allies' pilot statuses which are highly adaptable towards real robot combat. Players may easily overlook the VOTOMS cast due to the mediocre units that have difficulty adjusting to multiple terrain, but the pilots themselves have great stats and character traits. VOTOMS units make great grunt killers and excellent offensive support units and due to their mass-produced nature, replacing them will be pretty cheap should they ever be shot down. Like realistisry weapon systems, choosing the proper optional attachments and heavily customizing optional parts on VOTOMS units will bring out the best of they have to offer.
