The Alteisen Riese (アルトアイゼン・リーゼ) is a Banpresto Original Mecha debuting in Super Robot Wars Compact 2 Part 3: Galaxy Showdown. Part of the ATX Project, it is an upgraded version of the Alteisen. Its main pilot is Kyousuke Nanbu.
Technological And Historical[]
In all appearances, the Alteisen Riese is designed to be a powered-up Alteisen, putting further emphasis on the machine's basic concept as a frontal breakthrough unit with overwhelming power by enhancing armor, thrust, and weapons. On its rear now mounts a pair of Large Flexible Thrusters, while the waist verniers had also been enlargened, granting the PT with immense speed and mobility. The new leg compartments, the rear tail stabilizer and the side wings are customized from the Weissritter's spare parts. The Triple Machine Cannon has been upgraded into the Quintuple Chain Gun, the Heat Horn has been enhanced into the longer Plasma Horn, the Square Claymore has been modified into the Avalanche Claymore with increased ammunition and blasting speed, and finally the Revolving Stake has been replaced with the immensely larger and more powerful Revolver Bunker. Due to the immense thrust and increased weight, the machine has become harder to pilot than ever before, along with even greater G-forces exerted on the pilot's body, which pretty much made Kyousuke, a skilled ace pilot who has already been used to the great G-forces, the only person capable of piloting the Riese effectively. All in all, the Alteisen Riese is a machine that took the Alteisen's concept to the extreme, with immense firepower and charging strength many times greater than its base model.
Compact/Impact Series[]
In order to enhance the Alteisen into the Alteisen Riese, spare custom parts of the Weissritter were added all over the Alt's external armor, granting it higher speed and thrust.
SRW Compact 2.3/SRW Impact P3[]
The Alteisen Riese enhancement plan had been conceived by Kyousuke for a while in order to further upgrade the Alteisen. It is not until after Londo Bell's encounter with the brainwashed Excellen's Rein Weissritter, and was made into reality by engineer Nina Purpleton. The Alteisen Riese dueled the Rein Weissritter on various occasions, before finally being capable of freeing the machine from Einst control by shattering the red orb on its forehead. As part of Londo Bell, the mecha fought through the numerous hostile factions scheming to take over Earth, all the way to the final showdown against the Einst's master consciousness, Neu Regisseur.
SRW Impact also marks the debut of the iconic Rampage Ghost combination attack. Unlike succeeding games however, Alteisen Riese does not perform the Rampage Ghost combination attack with Rein Weissritter but with the original Weissritter instead (after the Rein had been reverted back to normal).
OG Series[]
Aside from the initial settings, the OG Alteisen Riese's shoulder wings are said to be Tesla Drive Balancers modified from the Weissritter's spare Tesla Drive parts, however it is for keeping the PT on its feet without collapsing due to the heavy weight and imbalance caused by the new equipment. This led to the Riese only having limited low-altitude hovering capabilities compared to other Tesla Drive-equipped mecha.
SRW OG2/SRW OGs2[]
During the Inspector War, the Alteisen was often severely outmatched by the various Super Robots fielded by Shadow-Mirror, like the Thrudgelmir and Soulgain. To be capable of fighting toe-to-toe with such powerful foes, Kyousuke devised the Alteisen Riese as an enhancement plan to the Alteisen and proposed it to Prof. Marion Radom. Marion thought of Kyousuke's upgrade plan as ridiculous and childish, but she still decided to go with it anyway. Before the plan could be put into action however, the Alteisen was badly damaged and mutilated by the Soulgain at the end of Operation Plantagenet, which opted Marion to start the refurbishment immediately to get the Alteisen back in the front lines as fast as possible. With his new machine, Kyousuke finally had a means to combat Shadow-Mirror, the Inspectors and the Einst on even ground, fighting until the bitter end of the conflict.
SRW OGG[]
The Riese saw action once again during the Bartoll Incident and Shura Turbulence, where it was first deployed along with the rest of the ATX Team to intercept a squad of Bartolls abducting civillians at Asakusa.
Armaments & Attacks[]
- Split Missile (スプリットミサイル)
On the Alteisen Riese's back are multiple missile containers which are launched at the enemy, followed by the missiles themselves deploying from the container. Only seen in Compact/Impact.
- Quintuple Chain Gun (5連チェーンガン Goren Chain Gun)
A five-barreled machine gun mounted on the Alteisen Riese's left arm, enhanced from Alteisen's Triple Machine Cannon. The barrel width had been decreased, however the ammunition count, effective firing range and rapid-firing capabilities had all been improved.
- Plasma Horn (プラズマホーン)
Upgraded from the Heat Horn, the longer Plasma Horn now packs more slashing power when charged with electricity. It can now also be used to get rid of small obstacles instead of just being an emergency weapon.
- Revolving Bunker (リボルビング・バンカー)
The prototype of Alteisen's Revolving Stake, the mechanics behind the Revolving Bunker are exactly the same as with the Stake, except that the cylinder is much larger, yielding greater damage per charge. The weapon was initially shelved away due to severely unbalancing the Alteisen when equipped, however now with the Riese upgrade, the Bunker can finally see the light of day. It is equipped with a break-action revolving cylinder chamber and is reloaded using a speedloader stored on the Riese's back when out of ammo. While the Riese usually fires only one charge in past incarnations, the attack animation seen in Original Generations has the Riese unload all six charges before reloading.
- Avalanche Claymore (アヴァランチ・クレイモア)
The upgraded version of the Heavy Claymore, the Avalanche Claymore packs a significantly greater number of titanium pellets. ALL Attack from OGs onwards.
- Boost Hammer (ブーストハンマー)
A giant ball-and-chain flail for mid-to-close range combat. The ball section is equipped with thrusters for increased damaging power. It is equipped on the Alteisen Riese in Another Century's Episode:R. As the Boost Hammer is a swappable weapon (a powerful one, that is) in Original Generations, Alteisen Riese can still equip the weapon like in ACE:R if the player wishes for it.
Solo Attacks[]
- Aerial Claymore (エリアル・クレイモア)
Alteisen Riese's version of Alteisen's Kirifuda technique, utilizing the Riese's various weapons to assault the enemy. True to the name, all incarnations of the attack includes the Alteisen blasting its Avalanche Claymore. There is a difference between the various versions of this attack throughout SRW games:
- Impact: Alteisen Riese first launches a Split Missile barrage, then slashes the enemy twice with the Plasma Horn, sending them flying upwards, before mowing them down mid-air with the Avalanche Claymore.
- OG2: The Riese first fires a barrage from its Quintuple Chain Gun, before closing in and slashing the enemy with the Plasma Horn, after that empties all Bunker charges into the target, and finally mows them down mid-air with the Avalanche Claymore.
- OGs: Exactly the same with OG2, now with higher quality animation.
- 2nd OG: Alteisen Riese ascends to the air before blasting the enemy with the Avalanche Claymore from above, before heading down and slashing the enemy with the Plasma Horn, hurling them upwards, after that delivers a barrage with the Quintuple Chain Gun from the ground, then finally impales the enemy with the Revolving Bunker and empties all charges, as the Riese pushes the enemy through the sky.
- OGMD: Exactly the same with 2nd OG.
Combination Attacks[]
- Rampage Ghost (ランページ・ゴースト)
Combination attack between Alteisen Riese and Rein Weissritter, or in the case of Impact, Weissritter. There are different attack animations depending on the game:
- Impact: Alteisen Riese rushes in as Weissritter launches 4 sets of Split Missiles, before the Alt slashes the enemy with its Plasma Horn and sends them flying. Waiting for them on the other side is a point-blank shot from the Weiss' Oxtongue Launcher E, followed by the Alt impaling and blasting its Revolving Bunker into the enemy, joined by a Plasma Cutter stab from the Weiss.
- OG2: Both machines fire their Quintuple Chain Gun and Triple Beam Cannon respectively, before the Weiss charges in and slashes the enemy with its Plasma Horn, sending them flying upwards as the Rein snipes them down with a Howling Launcher E blast. The Alt then sends them back up with a full payload of Revolving Bunker charges followed by numerous zero-range Howling Launcher B shots from the Weiss, and finally with a simultaneous barrage of Avalanche Claymore and Howling Launcher X to wrap things up.
- OGs: Alteisen Riese rushes in, as Rein Weissritter provides covering fire with numerous Howling Launcher E blasts while moving at flashing speeds, before the Alt slashes the enemy with its Plasma Horn. The Weiss then delivers two Howling Launcher B shots from the other side as the Alt follows with an Avalanche Claymore barrage. Finally, with the Weiss firing its Howling Launcher X, the Alt impales the enemy with the Revolving Bunker and directs it towards the Weiss' firing path, as both units shorten their distance in a pincer move before flying past the enemy, followed by a finishing explosion.
- 2nd OG: Both units charge in, with Alteisen Riese first striking with a Quintuple Chain Gun barrage, followed by numerous Howling Launcher E blasts from above by Rein Weissritter. The Alt then blasts the enemy away with a single Bunker charge, with the Weiss approaching and firing three Howling Launcher B shots at the hurled enemy before giving them a zero-range E blast. The Alt then sends them back with a Bunker charge from the other side, as the target is blasted back and forth between 2 mecha in this manner for 3 times. After their Catch-and-Release routine, the Weiss whacks the enemy with the Howling Launcher before the Alt unleashes the Avalanche Claymore, and finally with a simultaneous zero-range Revolving Bunker and Howling Launcher X blast to wrap things up, resulting in a large beam pillar riddled with explosions.
- OGMD: Exactly the same with 2nd OG.
- Eternally Darning Nails (エターナリー・ダーニング・ネイルズ)
Also known as E.D.N. Combination attack between Alteisen Riese and Flickerei Geist. Both units charge in while firing their Quintuple Chain Gun and Triple Machine Cannon respectively, before Flickerei Geist releases a Split Missile barrage at the enemy. The Alt then impales the enemy with the Revolving Bunker and hurls them into the sky. Flickerei intercepts the enemy mid-air with a Revolving Stake charge before circling and blasting the enemy with its Machine Cannon, making way for the Alt to charge upwards with a Plasma Horn ram, followed by Flickerei catching up and delivering a Stake charge to the target from the other side, shooting them towards the ground. To wrap things up, both units simultaneously unleash their Avalanche Claymore and Force Ray at the falling enemy, resulting in a massive explosion.
