The ATX Project (ATX計画) is a Banpresto Original mobile weapon development project.

Overview[]

Original Generation Saga[]

A development plan devised by Major General Greg Pastral as part of the Earth Sphere Defense Project, based at the TFF North America Branch Langley Base. It aims for the production of assault-use humanoid mobile weapons to serve as the TFF Army's next-generation mainline unit. It can also be considered as the polar opposite to the Far East Branch's SRX Project, due to the ATX Project's primary researcher Marion Radom's refusal to incorporate unreliable EOT into her creations (though she eventually eased up on this mindset through installing the EOT-developed Tesla Drive onto the Weissritter). The Personal Troopers Marion developed ended up being overtuned and too costly to mass-produce, and thus could only be assigned to skilled ace pilots. The first 2 units created were the heavily-armored melee assaulter Alteisen and the flight-capable ranged sniper Weissritter, customized from the Gespenst Type-T and the Gespenst Mk-II Type-T respectively. They were given to pilots Kyousuke Nanbu and Excellen Browning, and often worked in tandem to achieve great battle results throughout the DC War and the L5 Campaign.

Following the L5 Campaign, the ATX and SRX Projects were halted by the TFF top brass due to maintenance costs, as well as due to how the ATX Project ultimately did not produce any plausible mass-production units. Fortunately, both projects were unfrozen after the implementation of the Aegis Project, and thus the ATX Project staff gradually switched to developing units meant for ace pilots. SRX Project developer Kirk Hamill (who ironically is also Marion's former husband) cooperated with Marion in the construction of the next-generation unit Wildwurger, while also designing its partner unit Wildfalken by himself. These 2 units were piloted by former DC pilots Arado Balanga and Seolla Schweitzer during the Inspector Incident and the eventual 4-way conflict. In this period, Kyousuke's Alteisen was also heavily damaged in combat against Shadow-Mirror's Soulgain, and thus Marion refurbished the wrecked mecha into the powerful Alteisen Riese based on Kyousuke's rough upgrade plans.
