The ART-1, also known as the Advanced Real Personal Trooper Test Type-1, is a Banpresto Original Mecha from the SRW-exclusive series Chouki Taisen SRX, debuting in Super Robot Wars OG: Original Generations. Part of the RXR Project, it was developed based on the R-1.

Technological & Historical[]

The ART-1 was built as part of the RXR Project, itself belonging to the larger ReEOTH Plan, which aims to improve the stability and reliability of EOT technology. The mecha serves as a culmination of currently available EOT knowledge, while also incorporating data from other mobile weapon development plans, such as the R-Series, ATX Project, Huckebein Series and Project TD. Specifically using the R-1 as the basic body structure, the ART-1 is basically an improved R-1, with enhanced agility, weapons and telekinetic systems. While lacking the former model's combination system, the mecha is capable of fighting on its own and produce great results, whether in PT mode or in ART-Wing mode. Only one machine was ever made, and was given a light-purple color scheme instead of the R-1's tricolor, due to essentially being a "prototype based on a prototype".

Armaments & Attacks[]

  • Head Vulcan Cannon (頭部バルカン砲 ; Toubu Vulcan-Hou)

Two rapidly firing Vulcan guns mounted on the ART-1's head. They're not very effective on Personal Troopers and similar sized enemies, but they're good for destroying small fighters and ground targets.

  • Cold Metal Blade (コールドメタルブレード)

Combat knifes stored within the ART-1's shoulder binders, developed from the ones used by R-1.

  • Homing Missile (ホーミングミサイル)

Tracking missiles stored within the shoulder binder pods that are usable in ART-Wing mode.

  • HG-Revolver/HG-Revolver Cannon (HG・リボルヴァー/HG・リボルヴァーキャノン)

Large 6-round revolver guns stored on the ART-1's side skirts, developed from the ones used by R-1. They are usable in ART-Wing mode, where they will be called the HG-Revolver Cannons.

  • Boosted Rifle H (ブーステッド・ライフルH)

A sniper rifle-like weapon that fires solid rounds, developed from the one used by R-1. It is now capable of firing three shots at once, as seen during the first phase of T-Link Crash Sword. The weapon can be mounted on the side of either shoulder booster pods for storage and is also usable in ART-Wing mode.

  • Shield (シールド)

A forearm-mounted shield for protection which also serves as the ART-Wing's nosecone.

  • Chainsaw Tonfa (チェーンソー・トンファー)

The ART-1's primary melee weapon, a pair of forearm-mounted chainsaws that open up and swing forwards when deployed. A wielding grip is also available on both Tonfas for further stability.

  • T-Link Blade Knuckle (T-LINKブレードナックル)
Applying telekinetic force to the Chainsaw Tonfas, ART-1 slices the enemy.
  • T-Link Crash Sword (T-LINKクラッシュソード)

An alternative to the Tenjou Tenga Nendou Hasai Ken used by R-1. ART-1 transforms into ART-Wing and covers itself in telekinetic energy, which takes shape of a large blade engulfing the aircraft, before ramming through the enemy, destroying them. Before transforming, ART-1 will fire a triple burst from the Boosted Rifle H, followed by a HG-Revolver barrage. Since 2nd OG, ART-Wing will also unleash a few more HG-Revolver Cannon shots before initiating Crash Sword.

  • Tenjou Tenga Nendou Rengeki Ken (天上天下念動連撃拳; Telekinetic Continuous Striking Fist of Heaven and Earth)

Also known as T-Link Double Knuckle (T-LINKダブルナックル ; not to be confused with the attack of same name used by the R-1 during Formation R in OGs/OGG). Combination attack between ART-1 and R-1. R-1 and ART-1 change into their alternate forms and bombard the target with Homing Missiles while circling each other. R-Wing then flies ahead of the target, reverts back into R-1 and and initiates a T-Link Knuckle attack with both hands, knocking the enemy into ART-1's oncoming T-Link Chain Knuckle. The Chain Knuckle knocks the target back into R-1, which then delivers an upward kick that sends the enemy flying to the skies. Both mecha switch back into their aircraft forms and pull off another circling maneuver while firing their Revolver Cannons, before speeding ahead of the enemy and transform for one final time, side by side. Finally, R-1 and ART-1 charge their T-Link Knuckle/Chain Knuckle attacks and strike through the enemy in tandem, before flying away from the ensuing explosion. The Motion Data for this maneuver was developed by Latune Subbota, taking advantage of the nearly identical systems the two machines possess.
